Goodwill Locations Re-Open June 11th

Goodwill Industries, Ontario Great Lakes Response to COVID-19

Updated: June 14, 2021

Goodwill Industries, Ontario Great Lakes is committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of our team members, donors, customers and community members.  As coronavirus levels and its risk change in our communities, we are closely monitoring the provincial COVID-19 public health measures and complying to public health standards as we adjust our policies and ensure our spaces are safe.

As of June 11th, 2021, most Goodwill Community Store*, Bookstore**, Boutique Store, Outlet, and Donation Centre*** locations are open.

Our COVID-19 screening protocols at all locations currently include a mandatory face mask policy, physical distancing (2 metres or 6 feet apart), closed fitting rooms, closed public washrooms, and capacity restrictions, amongst other cleaning and health and safety measures. We also require that anyone who is showing any potential symptoms of COVID-19 or have had close contact with a person who has, or is presumed to have COVID-19, not access our spaces or donate at this time. Screening measures are posted at each location, along with capacity limits. A reminder that all of our spaces currently have a mandatory face mask policy in place – fitted masks, with no exceptions or substitutes (i.e. face sleeves or shields).  If line ups are present at our locations, teams may enforce posted shopping time limits for those waiting to enter.

Due to the unique shopping experience at our 3410 White Oak Road Outlet Store (in London, Ontario), temperature checks are mandatory upon entry and 30-minute shopping restrictions are in place (re-entering line up, to make room for those waiting).

**The Goodwill Community Store and Donation Centre at Sherwood Forest Mall in London (1225 Wonderland Rd N) is temporarily closed.

**The Goodwill Bookstore at 979 Wellington Road in London will remain closed due to capacity restrictions.  Our other Goodwill Bookstore locations (1044 Adelaide St N in London and 298 Lauzon Rd in Windsor) are open regular hours.

***Many Goodwill Donation Centres are OPEN reduced hours with our contactless drop-off procedure back in place. Know that we are expecting an unprecedented volume of donations when we re-open.  We greatly appreciate your donations and need them now more than ever; however, if at all possible, we encourage you to hold onto your donations a touch longer (2-4 weeks), while our team members manage this donation flow and we create space to accommodate this influx. Unfortunately, we will not be accepting large furniture and heavy items (items that cannot be safely lifted by one person) until further notice and COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. Due to reduced hours and capacity issues, please check hours of operation before dropping off your donations.

Goodwill is a gathering place for our communities; with these steps we hope to keep our spaces safe and do our part to help our communities quickly get back to full health and productivity.

Goodwill Career Centres will continue to service clients, job seekers and employers through telephone and virtual services.

Edgar and Joe’s Cafe will open for patio seating, take out, curbside pickup and delivery on Thursday, June 17th.

We greatly appreciate your understanding.  We are working diligently to support the concerns of customers, donors, team members and the community through this challenging time.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.
