    We’re passionate about diverting textiles from landfill.

    With a strong focus on sustainability, Goodwill collects, sorts, recycles, repurposes, and shreds used textiles so they can be used as rags, stuffing for products and automobiles, and by-product used by the agricultural industry. Each year over 100 billion garments are sent to landfills around the world and the textile industry is one of the world’s largest polluters of water. By recycling textiles and giving them a new life, Goodwill is building a fully circular economy.

    Businesses with surplus textiles like uniforms, towels, bedding, contaminated medical textiles and scrap fabric waste partner with Goodwill to divert these materials from landfill.

    Our textile recycling includes:

    • Sorting end-of-life textiles by fabric composition
    • Capture scrap/off cuts and sort for streaming into rags or shred
    • Feed scrap into mechanical shredder or rag cutter
    • Bale and sell rags
    • Bag and sell shred
